Cherry Tomato and Avocado SaladPuree of Asparagus Soup with Mascarpone Cream

These recipes for cherry tomato salad and asparagus soup are from Diamond Hotel executive chef Raymond Braun, whose recipes for the dishes he served during my birthday dinner I started sharing with readers last week. Chef Braun makes a mean salad of cherry tomatoes and avocado with red wine vinaigrette, roasted garlic flakes and blue cheese. Also, his Puree of Asparagus Soup with Mascarpone Cream is one I'm certain you and your family will enjoy!.

Cherry Tomatoes and Avocado Salad
Salad yield : 1 portion
30 g Romaine lettuce
30 g avocado, peeled & sliced
20 g endive lettuce
35 g blue cheese
5 g fried garlic chips slivered garlic fried in oil until golden
1 g fresh basil leaves
20 g tomatoes, cherry
Red wine vinaigrette (2 tbsp red wine vinegar, 2 tbsp olive oil, 1/2 tsp thyme or oregano, salt and pepper to taste-whisk ingredients to emulsify)

Prepare lettuce leaves. Break endives into bite-size pieces and place on top of the romaine. Add the cherry tomatoes around. Add blue cheese chunks on top. Drizzle with red wine vinaigrette. Decorate with basil leaves and chopped chives. Add the garlic chips on top.

Puree of Asparagus Soup with Mascarpone Cream
Soup - Yield 2 Liters
500 g asparagus, cut
400 g potatoes
2 ltr. chicken stock
400 ml cream
100 g butter
2 g salt
1 g black pepper, grounded
150 g shallots, sliced
50 ml olive oil

Sauté‚ shallots in hot olive oil. Add asparagus, but keep some of the tips for garnish. Sweat asparagus a bit and pour in stock. Add potato and let it simmer till tender. Put in a blender and strain. Boil and add cream, reducing a bit as necessary. Adjust seasoning.
For the individual portion:
180 ml soup
10 g beaten cream
10 g mascarpone cheese
Mix cream and the mascarpone cheese. Pour the hot soup into soup cup. Top with a big dollop of cheese mixture.

Reviews - Our Wedding Suppliers

Here are the Supplier Reviews for our wedding held 19 February 2005 at the INC Pandacan and Peninsula. They're a bit long so I will cut them into about 3 or 4 emails.

Joel is based in SF so I was pretty much left alone to prepare everything and attend all the fairs, deal with suppliers etc, and would keep Joel informed via chat, email, or our weekly phone call.

I don't think I was very OC about the wedding. I contracted the suppliers based on their work, gave some guidelines (No beads / No showbiz touches / Don't be frilly / I want it simple / classy / etc etc) then left them to do their job. I didn't want to direct too much because (1) I'm lazy, and (2) they know more about what they are doing than I do, in fact we were paying for that expertise naman.

All in all we were very happy with the results. Now it's on to marriage which will be a lot more challenging than planning the wedding.

Preparations - The Peninsula Manila

We got a Pen Club Card that gave us a free room, and a premiere suite for USD 100 only. Everything was OK, no problems with cleanliness, facilities, size, etc. The accommodations were clean, hot water running, towels nice and fluffly, no bugs, no funny musty smells, TV working, free DSL (yippee!). They allowed me to check in early (10AM) for the Suite (regular check-in is 2PM)

Not really connected to accommodations, but I nicked my nail polish the day before the wedding (rushed out of the salon while it was still wet) and Emphasis at the Pen basement fixed it for free :-)


Reception - The Conservatory, The Peninsula Manila
The Pen had one of the cheapest wedding packages among the Makati Hotels, and offered what I felt was the best venue for the size of our reception.

We opted for the Conservatory because we intended to have 150 guests maximum, and I liked its high windows and ceilings. The Conservatory is only available for morning / lunch receptions from Mon-Sat, and whole day on Sunday.

We decided to have a sitdown lunch and Claudine (account manager) arranged for a customized menu because we couldn't nail down a main dish from the package we selected. I found their beef dishes tough, and we didn't want to spring for Australian or US Beef, so we opted for a chicken main-course with a fish alternate. The prices of drinks at the Pen are very high though (2000 for a bowl of punch, and 120 for a coke / iced tea). We opted to serve a single round of punch lang and it was a pity because the punch was delicious.

Claudine was really nice and efficient, and gave us a lot of concessions (waived corkage, free room even if we didn't get the wedding package, room for photo setup, etc). She even booked our rooms for us. There were times I had difficulty catching her by phone, because she was tied up in meetings, but she always answered emails promptly naman.

Everyone I spoke with loved the appetizer, soup, and dessert. The main course was OK naman, but nothing to rave forever about. I noticed that they served a soup slightly different from that of the foodtasting, but it was still yummy so ok lang.

We got a Pen Club Card that gave us 5% off meal costs (if you opt to forgo the wedding package - which we did).

The service during the reception was good, and everyone got fed at the right time..no one went waiting for their food. The headwaiter was very polite din (he attended to our table).

Pen's got good facilities, and excellent service except
(1) mom said that when the florist went to the Conservatory to set up
the flowers she saw that the tablecloths were not pressed well. She had to have Pen remove and re-iron these.
(2) there was this one time when the waiter at Nielsen's insisted
that we had a free buffet breakfast (Joel asked him to check again nga because all we wanted was a light a la carte breakfast, pero the waiter goes "Sir, we checked. The breakfast buffet is free.") We got billed for this when we checked out. Joel was quite peeved pero chose not to make a fuss nalang about it. He did tell the Manager he was annoyed though.

I think the Pen is a great place for photos. There's a lot of places for those classic-y photos - the gallery, the conservatory, the mezzanine, and of course the stairs to the lobby. I got the CD's na from the photographers and the tall windows + the light is breathtaking.


Coordinator - The 3rd Party
I was previously considering Paulette Dimaano as a day coordinator but was too late in booking her. I also met up with Impromptu but found them even more laid back about the preps than I was. No ball.

Our florist recommended The 3rd Party and I know this isn't the best reason pero I hired them because they spoke well, had good grammar, and didn't seem to be too "showbiz". Some coordinators I had called or emailed had appalling grammar and some talked about how they could make the reception a spectacle. FFS, it's a wedding, not the Oscars. Totally not our thing.

We wanted no games, no bouquet throwing, no garter, no performances, nothing but the wedding reception equivalent of "Wham, Bam, Thank you ma'am". Pero meron cake cutting, toasts, dance, and a few speeches naman. Jojit, Alfred and Amy prepared a programme for the hosts (my sister and Joel's best friend) that was succinct enough without being too short.

Everyone got seated at the right tables, and they handled whatever problems came up well (since I never found out about them heheh).

I believe they were a bit lost during the ceremony, as ours was their first Iglesia ni Cristo wedding. We had a rehearsal the night before though, so that was definitely helpful. I know they're coordinating another INC wedding, so ours was also a crash-course of sorts for them.

The only booboo I noticed was that they did not brief the guests about the streamer throws and the guests were not sure whether to do this after the church ceremony or when we entered the Conservatory. No biggie, we had enough thrown for cheer and a nice photo.

Alfred, Jojit, and Amy (together with the 2 other coordinators they had with them during the wedding day) were very efficient. Alfred took the lead coordinator role during our wedding day, but all three of them were very helpful during meetings. I guess we weren't the easiest clients. Not because we were OC, more because we really didn't care about a lot of things.telling them "Bahala na kayo". I did this din because I was confident they wouldn't spring some cheesy material on us. True enough, they didn't.

They arrived early, reminded us about time, cued us, and generally allowed us to enjoy the reception without stressing about anything. After the reception, Alfred turned over all materials, guest lists, gift lists, receipts, etc. to my mom.

I had originally asked to upgrade my package to semi-coordination, but they couldn't accommodate me because they needed to focus on their existing clients. I think that was good because it shows they only take work they can actually do.

Oh, I initially had some difficulty contacting them as they were always out and I didn't have their mobile number, but once we started working together they were very quick to respond, and would actually send me "Are you alive" texts because I didn't seem to be doing anything with the preps.


Photographer - Pilar Tuason
Pilar was the first supplier I booked. I saw her work and didn't really consider anyone else na. She does a mix of photojournalism and classic shots and her photos are clear, focused, well-composed, and "showed
emotions" without being cheesy. Her work has a classic feel about it,
and I guess that is what I initially caught my eye.

She's very straightforward and nice, and likes cats :-) I visited her studio, took a look at some albums, and booked her. Thankfully Joel agreed or else I would have a hard time explaining things : P

We had our prenups at the La Vista park 3 days before the wedding. Pilar art-directed us into some pretty sweet poses, and Joel and I kept laughing with Joel muttering "I thought you said we wouldn't pose" in between smiles, but when the photos came out they were really beautiful. Not baduy at all.

She does both digitally laid out albums, and classic styled albums with mats. Joel and I selected her 10x10 album with mats because we found them really elegant. She usually selects the photos herself, but takes into consideration and adds the shots we would really like included.

She arrived on time at 7AM on the day of the wedding with a whole gang in tow - a backup photographer, another extra photographer, a guy who carried around the reflector, a flash guy, and another guy who carried her equipment. The works!

Pilar shoots unobtrusively most of the time, although she pep-talked us into smiling and directed us in some shots. I actually miss Pilar calling my name and telling me to smile :-)

We got the the files of our photos a week after the wedding, more than 3000 shots in all. Pilar did not disappoint talaga. I also got a really nice fine-art print of a photo from her, as she used one of my photos for her leaflet. This I love, it's a black and white photo with the flowers only in color on what looked to me like watercolor / Ingres paper. Pilar clients, you MUST ask her to make one of these for you.

She did a sample album of our wedding that she used for the NBC Bridal Fair, and when I saw it I got really excited to see our real album na.

I am really so so so happy we got her. If we have kids I will ask her to take portraits of them din.


2nd Photographer - Mimi Abesamis

Mimi and Karl of Fotogra.ph are fairly new to the wedding field and I emailed Mimi about her packages after I saw her shots of Pazette (former
W@Wie) and Darwin's wedding. Granted, they're a beautiful couple who would look great in anyone's photos.but I liked how Mimi captured the wedding.

I met up with Mimi and Karl and decided to book her on a backup photographer package Joel initially intended to dress up at his house, and I wanted to have photos of him naman.

Mimi was supposed to work alone but arrived with Karl (may bonus pa kaming photographer :-)) at 6:30AM on the day of the wedding. They work really unobtrusively and I would laugh when I saw Mimi crouching or sneaking up behind us to get a photo. Sabi ko nga sa kanya she was really getting a workout from all that photo-taking.

She delivered the files of their photos a few days after the wedding, and I am really pleased with them. She especially focused on the details of the wedding - the cake, the design of my sister's gowns, the champagne, the food (!) and they got a lot of shots that the other photographers didn't get because they were focusing on us. Great work, and their editing work is really magaling din. Subtle but effective.

Mimi and Karl have done a lot more work since I booked her, and I especially love their photos of Leslie and Jayson's wedding. Mimi is really really friendly, prompt with her replies, and such a nice person she even texted nice things after the wedding was over.

Also very happy with their work. Even if Joel decided to prepare at the Pen na rin, I do not regret hiring them at all.

Bong, CJ, and Chug are really nice guys and I feel really comfortable dealing with them. CJ is the one I always laugh with kasi he is really funny.

When I contracted them they had only done 1 wedding, but Joel reviewed
their sample CD and said that they were good naman.

I met up with them around twice prior to the wedding, but Joel did most of the coordination / briefing through email.

They arrived really early during the wedding day and actually waited a bit at the Pen Lobby because I wasn't awake pa hahahah. They were really unobtrusive and it was funny to see them chase the Adenauer we rode to the church just so they could get some shots of me and my dad.

From what I saw of the raw footage, they did a really comprehensive job of covering the wedding and the reception. I think they interviewed some guests pa.

Joel and I met up with them after the wedding to brief them on the "feel" of the final video, as well as give them a CD of the songs we wanted to use and we had a couple laughs looking through our Boracay honeymoon photos.

We got a really unbelievable package from Threelogy that included an AVP and a 2-camera coverage package for 20,000.00. I would always ask them how they intended to earn from that price, but they said it gave them a good chance to enter the market. I believed they've raised their prices a bit to more business-logical levels though. They got another camera and upgraded our package from a 2-camera setup to a 3-camera setup free of charge.

It will take them a maximum of 4 months to come up with the finished video, so I'll post my ratings on their work then.


AVP - Joel

Joel prepared an AVP of our story using screencaps from the anime Kare Kano, which eerily parallels our early years. I know it was really tedious to make, as he had to run through all 21 episodes, put items together, and then subtitle everything.

I laughed a lot while watching the AVP, but also couldn't help but shed a tear or two. Joel read the words while the AVP played.

I really really really love this guy. My husband :)


Flowers - Pleasantries

Tita Boots (Roberta Araneta), the owner of Pleasantries, is one of my mom's closest friends and she's had Pleasantries for a couple of years na.

I basically gave her a free hand in doing what she thought was best with me just telling her I didn't want anything ostentatious, or too expensive. I think what she came up with was really beautiful and elegant.

The guests raved about her centerpieces (mostly roses, with some dalanghita slices and some twigs), the backdrop, the flower girls' wreathes, and the sponsors / mom fans. My bouquets and the entourage bouquets were really quite simple, just what we wanted.

She's very creative, has great taste, is reliable, and can work to your budget.


Roses - Island Rose

They delivered 165 dozen pink roses for the wedding. They have the most beautiful locally grown roses, according to Tita Boots. I agree. Each one was pristine and unblemished. Perfect.


Dresses (mine / my mom's / female entourage) - Mila Dava tel 5360936
I found some photos of the dress I wanted to use, as well as the MOH / BM dress on the net and printed them out for Tita Mila to make. She executed the designs perfectly. I loved my dress, it really fit me IMO.

Tita Mila has great taste. She dresses really well and I didn't hesitate getting her to do our dresses as she understood that I wanted (which I myself had difficulty defining). She designed the flower girls dresses and my mom's dress. Very pretty and creative.

She had 2 assistants to help us fix up and arrived at the room to do the finishing dress-up touches. She can provide a mannequin for the gown but I forgot to ask her to send it to the hotel. No worries naman, I didn't really care too much.

Pulido, on-time, reasonable prices, excellent beadwork.


Corset - Betty's Bodyform
I am a terrible sloucher and the corset really helped keep my back straight. They altered a ready-made corset in less than an hour and after that I had a defined waist and no slouch.

The corset was very comfortable too.

Tip: If you've got a fairly sheer dress you may want to ask Betty to cut / replace the front zipper of the corset. It looks like a raincoat zipper with a ring so it may show through the fabric.


Shoes - Janilyn
I didn't want to spend too much on shoes, lalo na if they were fabric, because I would have definitely dirtied them up even before the wedding. I bought matte gold leather(ette) shoes at Janilyn (around 1000+ pesos
yata) and the beadwork was changed a bit by my mom's friend.

They were cheap and pretty and matched my dress. The downside was that the soles were not cushioned. I had to take off my shoes and walk around barefoot during the last hour of the reception.


Hairpiece - Ciara Creates

I first saw Ciara's work at Souk and bought my mom a pair of earrings that everyone would rave about. Mom insisted that I order my hairpiece from Ciara, so I did. I had a pearl, crystal, and gold wire hairpiece that my mom and Alex loved.

My mom's friends and my friends asked for her contact info so they could orders earrings etc for themselves. And they did, in buckets!

Ciara does beautiful work, she doesn't repeat styles, and she works quickly. I think she's mid-priced, but very worth it.


Female Entourage Accessories (gifts na rin) - Ciara Creates

I ordered earrings in pink and green (our color motif) as presents for the MOH / BMs. Ciara made different versions of the earrings for them and I think they looked really pretty. I got Claudine (Manila Pen AE) a pair of earrings din as a thankyou present.

MUA - Alex Carbonell (Propaganda)
I've been a client of Alex for ages and get antsy when he isn't around to fix my hair. I never had my makeup done by Alex prior to the wedding, but I was kampante because I knew he had a grip on what I would like.

We weren't able to schedule a trial MU session so we had a few minutes brainstorming before he started fixing me up. My only instructions were that I would like something a bit sophisticated and would not like to look like a sweet bride - not my personality at all.

Alex said he wanted some waves on my hair, very old Hollywood daw. Made-up eyes, pale-ish cheeks and lips (As pale as you could get my dark skin to be ehe). I was a bit freaked out when I saw my hair after Larry (his assistant) curled it, but Alex put it up and placed some pins to keep the waves in order.

The makeup really fit the gown nga. Joel said I looked great, I felt very pretty, and was glad I did not look sweet.


MUA (mom / sisters) - Bea PM me if you want his number
Bea is a MU consultant for one of those cool foreign cosmetic brands and does makeup on the side. He is good and will stay until the reception for touch-ups. I would recommend a trial MU though, as the makeup of my mom and my sisters was initially heavier than what they wanted. He lightened this naman after and I think they all looked very pretty. I didn't like that he placed false eyelashes on mom though. He has a good hairdresser din (I didn't get his name).

MUA (Prenups) - Victor(Emphasis)
I wasn't happy about this. Off color, too thick, and the eye makeup started smearing as soon as I left the salon. I was so annoyed I passed by my office on the way to the prenup shoot, washed all the makeup off and redid my face in the car.

My mistake was (1) not allotting enough time for the makeup as I had to rush out of Emphasis na because I was late for the prenups, (2) not wearing my glasses so I only saw my face when I was in the car na, and couldn't have it redone, (3) I didn't tell Victor what I wanted and left him alone to do the makeup.

Tlp: Have a discussion with you MUA about the look you want, and bring some sample photos to make things clear.


Suit (Joel) - Hugo Boss

Joel bought his suit and tie in SF and got a really good price for it. The shop altered the suit a bit for him, so the fit was exacto. I think Joel looked terrifically handsome in his suit. But then he's my husband, so IMO he would look great in a butas t-shirt and puruntung shorts.


Male Entourage Ties - Tieline (ShangriLa) small booth near Cibo
We asked the male entourage members to wear charcoal grey suits (kanya kanya na lang) and I bought a meter and a half of silk shantung and had ties made for them at Tieline Megamall. 250 bucks for labor per tie, one week to make. They were on time and ok. How wrong can you go making a tie?


Sound System - Victors Lights and Sounds
I only spoke with Rey Padua on the phone and we didn't need to give a downpayment prior to the wedding day. They had good equipment (according to Joel), were prompt, and they played our CD's according to Joel's instructions. No booboos naman. Sound quality good. Reasonably priced. They can include a fog-machine, and a bubble-machine for free, pero we opted for the bubble machine lang. They can also provide an LCD Projector and make AVPs.


Musician - Jay Yap of Reggae Mistress
Jay is my sister's boyfriend and he offered to play the keyboard during our reception. He's got oido (can play by ear). I gave him a list of songs I liked a few days before the wedding and told him bahala na sya. He was very good. Check them out at Havana Greenbelt.


Projector and Screen - Jan Visuals
They agreed to set up without a downpayment, were on time, and reasonably priced. The projector worked. I'm happy.


Cake - Alex Franco

The cake looked really beautiful. Alex filled it with roses, grape leaves / vines, and grapes. Plus it had white chocolate at the base of each layer. BUT it had laminated butterflies. I wasn't too keen on that. We didn't have dove and butterfly releases na nga because I didn't want any animals harmed (potentially), meron naman dead insects on our cake. People found this really pretty so I guess its more of a moral issue for me :-)

I only heard good things about Alex's cake from the guests. A lot asked for a second serving. We had the black and white cake as the bottom layer and it looked really nice in the photos. I like the Apple Walnut cake best though, sobrang sarap.


Car - 1957 MB Adenauer (Greg Ching)

No other choice for me. Greg's got a beautiful, elegant car. It made my dad feel like an old-time movie star. Joel was initially worried that the air-conditioning would be weak and that the car would break down, but the AC was ok and we got to the reception naman without having to commute.

Greg had crackers and water for us at the backseat and I think that was very nice of him.

Tip: Greg's got specific requirements for the size of the front flower arrangement, as it shouldn't obstruct the grille too much, so it would be best for your florist to coordinate with him. The car can't speed up too much din, so allot extra time for your trip to the Church.


Invitations - Ever Engraving (Jean)
I had originally wanted calligraphed and engraved invitations but was brought back to reality by Joel's comments on our ballooning costs. So I decided nalang on an all-script invitation on heavy ecru paper. Thermographed na rin para lower in cost.

I spoke with The Write Impression (changed my mind about their design), Amis (they could not accommodate me na kasi I inquired too late), and then finally Ever, who my mom had been bugging me to call.

Ever made my mom and dad's wedding invitations more than 30 years ago. We had a main invite, entourage page, reception card, rsvp card (which was useless as hardly anyone replied), an at-home card, a map insert (Jo made the map and I printed on matching paper I bought from Ever), and double envelopes with a lined inner envelope. I believe it cost around 150 bucks per set. They can do engraving but it costs an arm and a leg. I couldn't resist having our thank you cards engraved though, as we can use it even after the wedding naman. Engraved thank you cards with a full-color back and an envelope cost around 15-20 a piece (not sure na). Oh, and I had the souvenir labels printed by them na rin as I didn't have the time to have DIY ones. Ever can do the ink and lining in any Pantone color.

My friend did the layout of the invitations and all I gave Jean was a file ready-for-print. Drafts came in a week, invitations came 2 weeks after approval of the draft. Jean gave me a discount and 10% more invitations than I ordered. I was very happy with the final product - very elegant, and am really thankful that Joel allowed me to have my way with this item (He wanted something more modern).


Calligraphy - Lincoln
I was too tamad na to label the envelopes myself or to flatten and individually print each envelope, so I opted to call Lincoln na lang. Fast, reasonably priced (PHP 10 / envelope), and does beautiful work. Lincoln does more of a decorative script than formal calligraphy (Spencerian script, etc). He picked up the envelopes on a Friday and delivered the finished product to my office on a Monday (it would have taken him quicker to get it done but I didn't have a complete list of guests and had to send him a 2nd batch of names).


Rings - Tak King
Joel wanted platinum rings and I didn't find any I liked at the malls. I visited Tak King and Hans Brumann to ask about customized platinum rings and decided on Tak King because (1) they cost a bit less than Hans Brumann and (2) David, the owner, whipped out a ring that he made for his niece that I really liked.

We had some difficulty getting the design of the rings correct and ended up going through 4 designs / sample rings before we got the design we wanted (I didn't take notes on the style and David wasn't in Manila to explain / show Gino the ring so Gino had to guess and work from my
explanations) but Gino and Geny of Tak King were very matiyaga in redoing the samples until we finally got things right.

We actually got the rings 5 days before the wedding but didn't worry about them too much because Gino was always prompt with his schedule commitments.


Arrhae - World Treasures / Tak King
I just wanted something simple, no crowny design features. Bought coins at Megamall (World Treasures), had them dipped in silver, linked, and a dogtag added at Tak King. The coins were old 25 centavo coins (the one with the woman) and they cost 30 bucks each.

Nothing fancy but I liked them. Joel didn't seem to care hahah.


Gifts for Sponsors- picture frames, brooches (c/o Joels mom and my mom)

We had different gifts for the sponsors and believe it or not I didn't even get to see all of them. It was very sweet of our mom's to prepare them and we are very thankful.


Souvenirs- jewelry boxes and little picture frames (c/o Joels mom)
Joel's mom saw these little jewelry containers and picture frames at an expo in Megamall and ordered a bunch as souvenirs. She bought the tulle and flowers in Carolina's and wrapped them din.

They looked cute. I was not particular about the souvenirs but was really touched that she took the effort in preparing them.


Honeymoon - Fairways and Bluewater, Boracay
This was a gift from Joel's dad, who is a member. We stayed in a one-bedroom apartment and the place was very nice.

The place doesn't really operate like a hotel, meaning they don't have many amenities, but that's fair enough, as they are a time-share facility naman.

The restaurant at the clubhouse isn't too good and is actually quite pricey for what you get. It's best to ask the shuttle to drop you off at the beach so you can get your food there.

The staff was really friendly, especially the shuttle drivers. During our trip to the banca on the way home they drove the tiny jeep all the way down the beach right next to the water. Galing.

When in Boracay I like staying at Puka beach (other side of the island). The sand isn't as fine there, but there are less people, and there's a restaurant called Puka Grande that serves yummy squid and garlic butter prawns. I miss the talipapa though :-(

Check out Bombom Bar (Station 1), the shops at D Mall, the famous Jona's shakes, and Barracuda for yummy breakfasts. Station 3 has a lot of yummy eating places at a fraction of the cost of the Station 1 restaurants.


VANITY REVIEW

I was really loaded with work during the months preceding the wedding and thus really needed an extensive overhaul just to look alive for the wedding day. I took a few days off before the wedding for a series of what I hoped was not-too-late vanity procedures. I got a package from Emphasis that included a massage / lulur scrub, a facial, a manicure and foot scrub, and a hair treatment. They also serve a light lunch (sandwich and salad) for you.
Not related but I cannot help but mention this - when they ask you if you want a drink ask for their iced coffee, it is delicious!

Massage muna, then a scrub, then shower, then a dip in a hot tub with rosepetals.

The massage was ok, I've had better at Palm Garden, and since I was so spaced out and harassed from rushing around the week before the wedding I didn't tell the therapist na masyado nang hard yung massage (I asked for a hard massage though). So I got 2 bruises on my leg. Not good.

The scrub and bath were really luxurious, I felt like the kabit of a high-ranking government official Hahahah!

Essie nailpolish is really matibay, it lasted more than 2 weeks on me.

IDP - Blue Mountains
I stupidly went to the Dermatologist 2 weeks before the wedding and continued to use this peeling solution she gave me, so the day before the wedding I still had some slight peeling. Yuck.

I got IDP gift certificates really cheap through a group purchase with other W@Wies and decided to have one at 6PM the day before the wedding. The IDP was not painful at all, and got rid of all the peeling I had. The therapist showed me a compressed disc of dead skin that she said she removed, and I was sure glad that it wasn't on my face anymore. Even Alex was impressed with how my skin was the morning of the wedding.

Dermatologist - Dr. Gatmaitan
I've been going to her for about a year and she actually solved my problem. I had previously thought I would make the transition from pimples to wrinkles with no clear-skin period in between. Medyo heavy-handed sya when doing extractions so there were times napapasipa ako sa sakit, pero all-in-all the pain was worth it. I go easy on the bleaching cream though, I don't want to turn into Casper-face with nognog body.

W@W was a great help during the preparations as I was clueless about everything. I don't think the wedding day would have been as organized / detailed if I wasn't a W@W member. The supplier reviews were especially helpful, and it was good to be in a community with other brides-to-be as it kept me from boring my friends, family, and workmates with details and other items that I am sure didn't interest them much

4 pcs whole eggs, well beaten
1 bar cream cheese (225gms/bar), softened
2 cups, queso de bola, grated
1/4 cup white sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups fresh cream
1 recipe graham cracker crust (recipe as follows):
1 1/4 cup graham cracker crumbs
1/4 cup walnuts finely chopped
1/4 tsp cinnamon, ground
1/4 cup unsalted butter or margarine, melted

(In a bowl, combine graham cracker crumbs, walnuts and cinnamon. Add melted butter or margarine and mix thoroughly. Press on the bottom and sides of a 9-inch springform pan. Sides should be about 2 inches high. Chill to set)

Procedure: Preheat oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit. Combine eggs cream cheese, queso de bola, sugar and vanilla extract and beat until smooth. Fold in cream, mixing well. Pour the mixture into a 9-inch springform pan with graham cracker crust and bake in the oven for about 45 minutes to an hour or until a knife inserted into the cake comes out clean. Allow to cool down before chilling for about 5 hours. Remove the sides of the springform pan and, if you wish, top the cheesecake with your favorite flambéed or glazed fruits like strawberries, blueberries or mangoes.
